What is corduroy?

The smooth, furrowed texture is composed of heap-cut yarn that has been woven into tufted strings, known as ”grains”, which give the deep, accessible surface that corduroy is so loved for. The rib size refers to the number of edges per inch: the lower the rib number, the thicker the lines. Corduroys with more extensive grains are for the most part more robust and stunning for pants, while fine ridge textures are used much more commonly  for shirts and coats.

History of corduroy
